Monday's the Day!
We had our "pre-court" hearing today, and our court date has been set for Monday at 11:30 a.m. If everything goes smoothly, we will become Jonna's legal parents when the judge issues his decision -- and we'll be able to bring her "home" from the baby house Monday afternoon!
We hope Jonna will be happy to come with us, but of course it will be a big adjustment for her to leave her familiar surroundings. When we arrived for today's visit, she ran to Chris with a big smile, so that's a good sign. But when we said goodbye, she went back to her room without looking back at us. So we're not sure what to expect on Monday. Her caregivers are telling her that her Mama and Dada will be taking her home soon, so hopefully she understands a little.

Wow! It seems like the time has gone really fast since you guys got there. I'm sure it hasn't gone as fast from your perspective. LOVE the group shot and also Jonna's hat. She is so precious. Good luck with court, it will go just fine. Can't wait to hear about Jonna being back in the apartment with you guys.

This is fabulous news! Jonna looks so happy with you all. Maybe she really does know she'll be going "home" soon.
This is so thrilling.
My mom has friends who adopted a slightly older baby (1.5 yrs, I think) internationally. She said her experience was that the kids didn't immediately understand the concept of parents, but that they did understand pretty quickly that their new life is a good life and that they were happy with all the love they were getting.
Jonna may find this all strange, and maybe even a little scary, but I'm confident that she will respond fully to all of your love and attention.
I'll be checking in frequently on Monday in case you get a chance to update. No pressure, though!
PS -- I just sent a copy of "Because You Are My Baby" to a friend who just had her third.
