Gotcha!

At 8:30 this morning, we picked Jonna up to bring her home with us. In adoption lingo, this is known as "Gotcha Day." Here we are leaving the baby house... forever.

The day has been much smoother than expected. We thought Jonna might be frightened to ride in a car, to be away from her friends and caregivers, and to come to a strange apartment. But so far she has been fascinated with all the new experiences, and she seems content to be with us.

If anyone is interested in a more detailed account of our experience in court, please see my Miami Herald blog, "Birth at the Courthouse."

Congrats again! It was great seeing you all as a family today. It actually brought tears to my eyes to see Jonna "home" with you. Thanks for sharing your court experience. Let us know if there are any other odd questions we should be aware of. Hugs to you all!

I was not able to get online all day, so I waited until I got home and was anxious to check the blog. I am so happy to see that you were able to bring Jonna home. After reading the blog and your Miami Herald post, I started crying. It was just so nice to hear about all the progress Jonna has already made.

Any idea when you will be able to return to the states?

We're so so happy for you!

I'm eager to hear how she passes her first night. How lovely that she gets to sleep with her family.

How much longer until you all come home?
